Forres Future Search CONSULTANCY AND WRITING

Eddie retired at the end of 2008, after a career of 23 years freelance work, and having run many hundreds of courses and conferences both in the U.K. and overseas. He now undertakes only limited consultancy work, some in the field of governance and management in the voluntary (charity) sector, and other in the outdoor activities/tourism field.

Currently, he has been involved with British Waterways on the setting up of a formal Canoe Trail in the Great Glen in Scotland; advising the Welsh Assembly on access to water in Wales; and advising Canoe England on canoe trails in England.

Eddie is still the distributor of ‘The Forres Future Search’ book, and is co-author of ‘The Large Group Facilitator’s Manual’, available from Gower Publishing Ltd.

Eddie commenced writing for Pesda Press of North Wales, a leading outdoor publisher, and perhaps the leading canoeing and kayaking book distributor in the U.K. several years ago. He edited ‘Scottish Canoe Touring’ for the Scottish Canoe Association (www.canoescotland.com)

Eddy has chosen his favourite twenty-five inland touring routes and described them in loving detail. The routes are beautifully illustrated with numerous colour photos and specially commissioned maps. The selected routes are suitable for open canoes, sit-on-tops and touring kayaks. Eddie has, together with Tony Monaghan, written on ‘Irish Canoe Classics’, due to be published in Spring, 2010, and has another couple of canoeing writing projects in the pipeline.

The photos on the this page give a flavour of the many loughs in Ireland, and hundreds of miles of paddling over the past two years!

He is available to talk on both books, with a slide show, around the U.K., and Tony is available to give talks in Ireland.
